Cost-Effective Geochemically-Based Surface Exploration for Hydrocarbons Using Magnetic Horizontal Gradient and Radiometric Surveys

These surveys can:

• More than double your wildcat successes
• Substantially decrease your oil and gas finding costs
• Permit exploration where seismic surveys are ineffective
• Allow exploration in environmentally sensitive areas

Hectori Inc. of Calgary, Alberta Canada conduct ground-based magnetic horizontal gradient (HG’), radiometric and other surface exploration surveys for cost-effective and non-invasive hydrocarbon exploration. These surveys are commonly classed as geochemically–based surface exploration methods. We have achieved 80-85% success in finding hydrocarbons (new field discoveries). We present some case histories, published in the professional literature, examples of which may be accessed from this website. Compare our success with the 10% - 30% success typical of wildcat exploration based on conventional geological and seismic exploration alone.

Our surveys can be conducted anywhere in the world where access to the land is available. In Western Canada, and probably elsewhere around the world, “magnetically enhanced zones” above microseeping reservoirs exhibit distinctive magnetic signatures that can distinguish hydrocarbon pools, one from another, even in areas, like Alberta, where reservoirs are stacked (most surface exploration methods cannot make this distinction). Our surveys cost less than the cost of a 3-D seismic survey conducted over the same area, and are environmentally non-invasive.
